A wide, long distant shot of STS 128, Space Shuttle Discovery flood lit in the dark on launch pad 39A at T-15 seconds to lift off. The Sound suppression water system is activated as the countdown reaches T-10 and the clip cuts to a close up of the Main Engines as they ignite. The boosters ignite and Discovery lifts off the pad in a wide shot which pulls out as the vehicle rises into the night sky illuminating the Florida lagoons spectacularly. Tracking shots follow the bright light as it heads for a thick cloud bank. Brief view from the onboard camera on the external fuel tank as moisture streams off the lens. Tracking shots of the illuminated exhaust gases and a second onboard shot as the Shuttle reaches three miles altitude. Further tracking shots as Discovery gets the go ahead for throttle up. Commander Rick Sturckow acknowledges the command. By 17 miles in altitude only the glow from the three main engines can be seen. Solid rocket booster separation is captured through the tracking cameras as the clip comes to an end.
