Apollo 11 had three parts: its command module is the cone at the top, its service module is the grey cylinder, and the lunar module is in the white flared fairing below the service module. The Apollo 11 mission was launched from pad 39a at Kennedy Space Centre, Florida, USA, on July 16th 1969, and was the first manned mission to land on the Moon. Crew members were Neil Armstrong, Michael Collins and Edwin Buzz Aldrin. Armstrong and Aldrin landed on the moon on July 20th whilst Collins remained in lunar orbit. They returned to Earth and landed in the Pacific Ocean on July 24th.
