Earth and Moon from Mars. Rostrum footage of a composite image of the Earth and the Moon, as seen from Mars by NASA's Mars Reconnaissance Orbiter (MRO). The Earth and Moon are around 385, 000 kilometres apart. The distance of the Earth-Moon system from Mars averages around 225 million kilometres. This image combines the best Earth image with the best Moon image from four sets of images acquired on 20 November 2016 by the MRO's High Resolution Imaging Science Experiment (HiRISE) camera.
