Cyclone Debbie seen from space on March 27, 2017. Debbie made landfall on the coast of Queensland, Australia, in the afternoon of 28th March. It became a category 4 cyclone just before making landfall, with wind gusting at speeds of more than 260 kilometres per hour, and sustained winds of 190km/h in places. Thousands of people evacuated in the path of the storm, which was expected to cause flooding as well as wind damage. This true-colour image was taken by the Moderate Resolution Imaging Spectroradiometer (MODIS) instrument on NASA’s Aqua satellite.
